Inbound Call Agent Answer
Inbound Phone Calls at Home for West at Home |
West at Home is a reputable, 20 year old,
Fortune 1000 company that hires at-home agents to answer inbound
phone calls. Companies in a wide-variety of industries,
including retail, healthcare and travel, outsource their customer
service to West at Home, and West at Home then hires agents to
work from home to service the customers of these clients.
Agents are thoroughly trained in the services and products for
which they provide customer service and may answer
questions regarding billing, technical support, enrollment status,
product returns and more. ALL calls are inbound; agents make no
outbound calls.
All agents are independent
contractors, and hours vary. The companies, or
"lines," that need customer service help will
post projects ("skills") and the number of hours
and timeslots available
for that "skill" on a schedule on the West at
Home website and then agents pick up as many hours as they
want. Many of the companies, though, have a minimum
number of hours that must be worked per week for an agent
to remain active, and hours are taken quickly, so it pays
to keep an eye on the hours' schedule. Agents can
work as many hours as they can pick up, although West at
Home recommends not working more than 8 hours a
day.
West at Home offers work schedules that pay at a per
minute rate, a per call rate or a guaranteed hourly rate, although only two
companies offer the guaranteed hourly rate. On
average, agents earn $7 to $9 per hour and cannot earn less than
the minimum wage rate in their state. There are no upfront costs,
and paid training is provided. Agents are paid every two weeks.
The application process is
fairly straight forward and takes approximately 35
minutes to complete - you will need a PC with a high speed
Internet connection so your application does not "time out"
- and includes an online application
followed by a skills assessment. Upon successful
completion of the skills assessment, you will complete an
automated interview and you will then receive an email as
to whether or not you have the job. Be
aware that because of the volume of applicants, it can
take up to two month to learn if you have been hired so be
patient. If you are hired, you will need a basic phone
line (or VOIP such as Vonage or Skype) and a headset to
perform the job.
The company is seeking college
students, stay-at-home moms and retirees.
