Earn Income as a Transcriber

Filename: j0434874.png

TigerFish, is a reputable, established transcription service, a company that renders recorded speech into written form, and its past clients have included major universities, city governments, foundations and national media outlets.   The company is currently in search of transcribers, people who are quick typists, have a good ear for language and are able to write well.  These positions are home-based, and unlike many similar opportunities, do not require prior transcription experience.  As an applicant, however, you must have high speed Internet access, a telephone number where you can be easily reached, a PC with Windows operating system and transcription software (free to start and downloadable from the TigerFish site).

If you are interested in transcribing for TigerFish, you are asked to send a sample of a transcription.  This involves downloading an audio file from the company website (there is also a transcription style guide on the site to help guide you) and timing how long it takes to do the transcriptions (three of them).  You are then asked to save the transcriptions and send them, via email, as attachments to the company, along with a note describing yourself as a writer, what you enjoy reading, your education and any relevant experience.

The company stresses that due to the large number of responses it receives from people interested in the transcription positions it may take a little time before it responds to your job inquiry.
