transcription service, a company that renders recorded speech into
written form, and its past clients have included major
universities, city governments, foundations and national media
outlets. The company is currently in search of
transcribers, people who are quick typists, have a good ear for
language and are able to write well. These positions are
home-based, and unlike many similar opportunities, do not require
prior transcription experience. As an applicant, however,
you must have high speed Internet access, a telephone number where
you can be easily reached, a PC with Windows operating system and

transcription. This involves downloading an audio file from
the company website (there is also a transcription style guide on
the site to help guide you) and timing how long it takes to do the
transcriptions (three of them). You are then asked to save
the transcriptions and send them, via email, as attachments to the
company, along with a note describing yourself as a writer, what
you enjoy reading, your education and any relevant experience.
The company stresses that due to the large number
of responses it receives from people interested in the
transcription positions it may take a little time before it
responds to your job inquiry.
