Customer Loyalty
Concepts
Helping Newspapers
Retain Their Customers
Customer Loyalty Concepts (CLC) is a customer
retention service hired by newspapers to keep subscribers happy
and increase customer loyalty. The company employs
home-based agents who can hold "intelligent
conversations" with newspaper subscribers to ensure
that they are satisfied with their delivery service. CLC was
founded in 1994 and currently has 200 work-at-home agents in 26
states (see below). They are a member of the Colorado Better
Business Bureau, and they are accepting applications for
agents. This is not an independent contractor position;
those hired by CLC are company employees and are required to
complete a W-4 and an I-9.
The job
does not involve cold calling but rather contacting
existing newspaper subscribers and welcoming them as a
customer, reminding them that a bill is due or letting
them know that their subscription is about to
expire. Agents are required to work at least 15
hours per week (call hours are Monday through Friday, from
8am to 10pm MST), and the pay is $8 per hour. Paid
training is also provided. CLC is looking for skills
such as computer proficiency, familiarity with the
Internet, an enthusiastic voice, reliability, self
motivation and some experience working with the
public. Sales skills, call center skills and at
least a high school diploma are desirable as well.
There are also some computer hardware and software
requirements. Applicants must have an IBM compatible
computer (no Macs) with a Pentium processor, Windows XP SP2 or
better operating system, 512 MB of RAM, 1 GB of hard drive space
and anti-virus protection. For those to whom all this sounds
like Greek, these system requirements usually come with most new
home computers, although the models with a Pentium processor, more
RAM and a larger hard drive will cost a bit more (you'll also have
to ask the store to load Windows XP). You will also need a
Firefox browser (an easy, free download), high speed Internet
(cable or DSL through the phone company), a printer, voicemail, a
USB headset and reliable email. And a quiet place to work.
Since you are an actual employee and working at home, CLC has
specific daily tasks that must be completed, such as keeping a log
and tracking hours. Scripts are provided so that most
conversations with subscribers go as planned, and software
provided by the company gives agents the information they need
about each subscriber (name, address, newspapers in their town,
cost of their subscription, etc.).
CLC is currently hiring in the following states:
Alabama Arizona California
Colorado Florida Georgia Illinois Iowa
Kentucky Louisiana Maine Michigan
Minnesota Mississippi Missouri Montana
Nebraska Nevada New Mexico North
Carolina Ohio Oklahoma Oregon
Tennessee Texas Virginia
